Just Call Your Family Doctor… R

emember how your Grandmother used to talk about her “Family Doctor?” How if she

were ever sick, or had any medical prob- lems, she would always go to her “Family Doctor,” since that is who knew her and her medical history the best. Then, if there was a need to go to a specialist, her “Family Doc- tor” would schedule that appointment, receive the re- sults of the visit with the specialist, and coordinate her care.

This is the kind of doctor that knows you and your history, and can oversee all of your medical care… and that is exactly the kind of doctor you will have at Appalachian Regional Adult and Family Medicine in Boone.  Lada, McCracken, and Kimbro provide family medicine and not only can they follow and treat you, but they will also be glad to follow and treat your children that are ages 4 years and older. Being a patient of a physi- cian who treats children and adults is a great option as there is no need for children to have to establish with a new doctor once they “age out” with their pediatrician.

In October 2007, Appalachian Regional Adult and Family Medicine opened its doors to serve and care for patients in the High Country. Dr. Melinda Lada was the sole provider at this facility, which was the second practice to open as part of , the physician office branch of the . Dr. Lada graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Prior to coming to Boone, she practiced for several years at a rural health clinic in Hays, North Caro- lina. She is board certified in Family Medicine.

For a short time, Dr. Lada had a partner helping her care for the patients; however, since February, 2010 until most recently, Dr. Lada was the sole provider at Appalachian Regional Adult and Family Medicine. Help came in July, 2011 when joined the practice after complet- ing his Family Medicine Residency at Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. Dr. McCracken graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Nor- folk, Va. Just after joining the staff at Appalachian Regional Adult and Fam- ily Medicine, Dr. McCracken became board certified in Family Medicine.

The most recent addition to the practice is Dr. Michael Kimbro who began seeing patients just after the New Year. Dr. Kimbro graduated from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed his Residency at Mo- ses Cone Family Medicine Program. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and was in private practice in Mountain City, TN, prior to serving as a missionary in Peru.
