Rubbing Shoulders with a Trying on hats in the Great Gallery
Mad Hatters Easter Tea Party! Tuesday 3 April, 10.30am–12.30pm or 2pm–4pm Cost: £7, ages 6+ Join artist Zoe Bates to discover fanciful fashions and Easter imagery. Try on our historical replica hats and helmets and then create your own headwear with colourful paper, ribbons, feathers and handmade pom-pom chicks. Celebrate your new spring style with tea and biscuits!
Jewels of Spring:
Watercolour Painting Workshop Friday 13 April, 10.30am–3.30pm Cost: £14, ages 9–12 First learn the main techniques of watercolour painting, including wet-on-wet, glazes, dabbing and mixing tones. In the galleries sketch some of the beautiful paintings and develop ideas to incorporate into your final studies, including vibrant spring scenes, memories and imagination. An all day workshop with artist Alison Kusner.
Knight in Shining Armour Thursday 7 June, 10.30am–12.30pm or 2pm–4pm Cost: £7, ages 7+ Explore the armouries and try on original and replica armour, then spend time with the Wallace Collection’s Brass Rubbing knight! Artist Gilly Gretton will teach you how to make a brass rubbing, and then how to turn it into a self-portrait, using collage, of yourself as a knight (or lady).
