Deaf Visions – April Fools Saturday 7 April, 4pm–6.30pm This event is for D/deaf and hard of hearing people and will be delivered orally with a sign language interpreter and in British Sign Language Discover the darker side of the art market in this event, looking at fakes and forgeries in the Wallace Collection. Can you tell the genuine article from a later reproduction? Have a go at gilding with Ruby Sharp and then John Wilson will take you around the galleries and identify some fakes that fooled the Wallace Collection founders.
In conjunction with Arts 4 Dementia, we are delivering four sessions for people with dementia and a carer to experience the Wallace Collection through themed interactive tours and creative art sessions. 26 March – The Collectors: an introductory tour to the Wallace Collection
16 April – Madame de Pompadour: find out about the famous royal mistress in this tour and art workshop
14 May – Rococo Ceramics and Furniture: a tour focusing on Rococo motifs
11 June – Arms and Armour: themed tour and art workshop

Sensation! What’s in a Letter? Wednesday 11 April, 12pm (Bring a packed lunch; coffee and tea provided) Event runs 1pm–4pm. This event is for blind and partially sighted visitors Find out more about the characters of the collectors of the Wallace Collection, including the 3rd Marquess of Hertford, who inspired the character of Lord Steyne in Thackeray’s Vanity Fair, and the 4th Marquess whose character is revealed in lively letters to his agent. Discover their personalities, see their tastes in art and reveal your own character in some creative writing.
A Knight’s Quest! Saturday 19 May, 11am–4pm For blind and partially sighted children aged 6–12 years and their families Discover the stories hidden in the Wallace Collection and create your own medieval Knight’s Quest. This family day will be jam- packed with activities including armour handling, lyric writing and composing your own music, which you will perform on the Wigmore Hall stage at the end of the day.
