SOUTH AFRICAN INTERNET PROVIDER BUYS DATA CENTER


South African internet service provider RSAWEB has bought its second data center facility, which will come online in December this year, allowing it to take advantage of cloud hosting models.


RSAWEB’s data center in Cape Town will provide dual redundancy and, like its first data center in South Africa, will be directly connected to fiber links, including Telkom, Neotel and RSAWEB’s own fiber network. Both DCs operate on separate Eskom power grids connected via separate Telkom exchanges.

“South African businesses are starting to take note of the advantages of cloud hosting as opposed to traditional hosting models such as in-sourced data centers and dedicated servers,” Gilmour said.
