INMINUTES. NOT WEEKS!
MISSION CRITICAL POWER
20 seconds 40 seconds 60 seconds
The Technological Salience Index indicates those technologies and solutions that have shown greatest uptake across all North American and Western European markets from 2007 into 2008. The rate of 2007 adoption is set at 100. It should be noted that these figures are relative across time and do not indicate the absolute proportions of adoption and consideration. Heading the list of fastest moving developments are two ‘whole of data center’ options – moving the primary data center away from central city area and building accreditation, followed then by direct current power options, low power microprocessors and blade servers rounding out the top five.

The Confidence Index represents an overall measure of the positive or negative sentiment of the industry over the coming 12 months, based on levels of concern about future threats and the capability of the industry to deal with them, perceptions of emerging trends (economic, regulatory, organisational, technological etc.), investment intentions and the uptake of available technologies and solutions. The chart indicates that where comparison can be made between 2007 and 2008, the trend tends to be moving in a negative direction.

Data center markets index The latest figures from our ongoing industry research
These indices have been computed from market research conducted at 25 DatacenterDynamics events in 15 locations across North America and EMEA. This programme has been ongoing since 2006 and now includes 4500+ responses. The aim of the research programme is to track the thoughts of industry decision makers involved in the design, construction and operations of critical data center facilities and to study in particular how the interaction between attitudes, perceptions and motivations shapes their decision-making, and hence the industry of the future.
