ADVERTORIAL INTELLIDATA

Application specific monitoring from IntelliData Systems

IntelliData Systems offer a range of standard off-the-shelf power and environmental monitoring devices, but specialise in developing products to meet specific client needs. The approach is based on the understanding that a typical Datacenter will have a mix of servers, routers, mainframes and other specialised equipment all requiring different monitoring solutions that will possibly change through the lifetime of the Datacenter. Being able to monitor 95% of the installation is not good enough. If you are not sure whether the remaining 5% of your floor space is pulling 1% or 20% of your power, you are guessing instead of planning. So when a long term client needed to install a small number of new IBM 595 mainframe machines in an existing hall, IntelliDataSystems were asked to design a solution for monitoring their 63A 3-phase power feeds. The result is a new product in the IntelliDataSystems range that incorporates a new mounting system for fixing the monitoring securely to the pedestals below the floor.

The importance of the new mainframes to the client’s business meant that although possibly only a few of the new monitoring devices will be installed, the design and build quality has to be of the highest quality. Product Manager Tim Hamill comments “Long term relationships with clients are important to us.

On its own, the new 63A monitor is not significant to our business, but as part of completing the whole picture it is essential. We are able to introduce new devices fairly quickly by keeping in-house hardware and software design tightly integrated.”

Other products introduced recently to meet specific client requirements include IntelliStrips with individual socket monitoring and rack-mounting power
