recreate shopper’s favourite aspects of online shopping in-store. This has meant a surge in the use of new technology such as tablet devices set up in-store, which create a different kind of POS setting so that shoppers can find and buy items without waiting in long queues. As this has proven to be one of the key things shoppers dislike about shopping in-store, this is a key way to improve their experience. One product that is capitalising on

this surge in the interest of new technology is Verifone’s GlobalBay iPad Retailing Solution. GlobalBay, who have recently been purchased by Verifone, specialise in producing retail software that enhances a retailer’s interaction with the customer, and has worked with a number of brands to integrate iPad stations where customers can browse through products. One such project has seen the company working with fashion brand GUESS to enable customer interaction through iPads mounted on rolling stands. These can be used as self-service kiosks for customers to purchase the brand’s online and in-store products and enhance the overall shopping experience. The iPads provide a great way for GUESS to generate additional sales, as customers can be shown targeted marketing as they browse.

creating new ways for customers to shop is an excellent way for retailers to provide more of the positive aspects of online retail, whilst creating the sense of experience that online retail lacks.
