Bluewater to revamp Wintergarden offer
Bluewater has revealed plans for a multi-million pound redevelopment of The Wintergarden, Bluewater’s fast-food and family dining village.
The redevelopment will
increase The Wintergarden’s covers by 50 per cent to a total of over 1,000. In addition to seven branded concessions, two free-standing pods are being created, along with a new 3,900-sq ft restaurant. Designed by Leslie Jones,
the works include a complete redesign of The Wintergarden to create a more contemporary space that is easier for guests to use and enjoy. Different seating areas appealing to different types of guest will be introduced, along with high quality materials and finishes. Enabling works began on January 23 and the redevelopment will be completed in Autumn this year. The enhancement of The
Wintergarden is the next stage
in the evolution of Bluewater, following the opening of The Plaza and Glow in November last year.

asset manager at Lend Lease, said: “For 10 million guests every year, The Wintergarden is Bluewater’s front door, and it is now time to upgrade and enhance the offer, the environment and the experience. We have listened
to what guests want and are creating something that not only meets their needs, in particular those of families, but introduces some new elements. “Together with the opening
of The Plaza last November with its unique entertainment dining offer, and our previous work to introduce new brands to The Village, Bluewater is once again creating a new frame of reference.”
Meadowhall launches ‘Master Sheff’ competition
Meadowhall has launched the ‘Master Sheff’ competition in celebration of its newly revamped Oasis Dining Quarter. Trainee chefs from the
centre’s extensive restaurant portfolio have been tasked with creating innovative new dishes in line with their restaurant’s culinary themes. Eight chefs are taking part from restaurants Las Iguanas, Wagamama, Handmade Burger Co and La Tasca among others. TV chefs John Torode and Gregg Wallace will crown the
ultimate winner after tasting each of the dishes and interviewing all of the finalists in the centre. The winning dish will be chosen for its relevance to the brand, creativity, taste and presentation. The winner will be awarded
the exclusive ‘Master Sheff’ trophy and be given an opportunity to put their winning dish on the menu. The Oasis Dining Quarter, a
£7m redevelopment, opened in October last year and includes a new restaurant mezzanine and gourmet outlets.
Network Rail confirms King’s Cross line-up
Network Rail has confirmed that the doors to the striking new concourse at King’s Cross station will open on 19 March, providing more space, better facilities and an improved range of shopping and food and drink outlets. The stand-out feature
of the redevelopment is a new concourse which will accommodate 27,000 sq ft of retail and catering space. The lower level will accommodate retail shops while casual dining will be located on the upper level.
The catering units have
been taken by Benito’s Hat, Caffe Nero, Fullers, Giraffe, Leon, M&S Simply Food, Pasty Shop, Pret A Manger, Prezzo, Starbucks, Upper Crust, Wasabi and Yalla Yalla. And high street brands which will be opening in the new concourse - some of which will be appearing in a British station for the first time – are Accessorize, American Apparel, Boots, Hotel Chocolat, ICE, Kiehl’s, Oliver Bonas, Paperchase, T M Lewin, W H Smith and Watermark. Rail’s head of retail, said: “We listened to what passengers and station users wanted and a new selection of casual dining restaurants, such as Leon, Prezzo, Giraffe, Benito’s Hat and Yalla Yalla, will provide a great choice of places to eat and meet, for travellers, shoppers and locals alike. “The new retail and dining
mix at King’s Cross will be one of the best at a British station, which is great news for passengers, and will complement the increased capacity and better facilities which will also be available.”
