Time capsule items needed
During the 100-Day Countdown to the Centennial Kickoff
Celebration at City Hall, any Chandler resident or business may donate items for possible inclusion in a time capsule to be opened in 2062. Unlike the time capsules created for the City’s Golden Jubilee in
1962 and its Diamond Jubilee in 1987, this time capsule will not be metal or buried. Instead, it is a special case artistically designed by glass artist B.J. Katz to show the contents. Mayor learns ‘Groundhogese’
SPEAKING ‘GROUNDHOG:’ Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny talks to the star of the day, Buttercup the groundhog.
In a special Groundhog Day edition of the popular
Meet the Creature class at the city’s Environmental Education Center, Lisa Limbert of Lisa’s Creatures brought a collection of critters for the class of young children to enjoy, including Buttercup the groundhog. “After a brief communication lesson from Lisa,
Mayor Tibshraeny asked Buttercup about the weather, sports and her favorite movie,” according to City of Chandler Public Information Officer Craig Younger. “She said we can look forward to a beautiful spring of 72-degree days, a Patriots win in the Super Bowl, and her favorite movie, “Groundhog Day,” with Bill Murray, of course!”
