he historic John T’s Bar on Boar Lane, which is part of the Marriott Leeds
Hotel, is to undergo an exciting £500,000 transformation this spring. This familiar Leeds landmark, which first opened in 1871, will re-open on 12th March 2012 as 1871 Bar & Lounge, creating a stylish new destination for discerning drinkers and Leeds taste-makers. Major changes to the space include a
new entrance to the bar on Boar Lane and a contemporary re-modelling of both the bar and restaurant – which will become a Midtown Grill – on the ground floor of the hotel.
Open from 11am, 1871 Bar & Lounge will offer a light bite menu in the morning, and a
simple yet innovative menu of small plates, healthy options and traditional, locally inspired fare during the day. In the evening, signature cocktails will be served alongside a selection of craft beers. The ambience is anchored by state-of-the-art lighting and sound staging. Also undergoing refurbishment is the Marriott Hotel restaurant, which is becoming a Midtown Grill steakhouse.
