Traditionally an occasion to celebrate love and life with your special someone it can also be a painful reminder of solitude for the single, separated and widowed. So, if you are single this Valentine‘s Day should you forget the day exists? No! You should celebrate Valentine‘s Day alone and enjoy every second of it. Planning an active Valentine‘s Day may impede feelings of loneliness and remind you how to be happy and confident on your own.

Tips to spending Valentine’s Day as

1. Valentines Day is about expressing your love to the special person/people in your life, so give yourself some love. Go to a spa, get a massage or buy some SHOES. V- Day is all about treats, pick something (anything) and go get it girl. If you‘re not spending money on some dude, spend it on yourself.

2. Rent a movie that appeals to you, something you know a guy would never sit through, or simply com- plain the whole way through. Grab the popcorn, wine and your pj‘s, and settle in for some serious veg out time. Movie idea: Hire an action flick where the aspir- ing love interest gets killed off near the beginning, avoid romantic happily-ever-blah type films.

3. Do something you have never done before, but always wanted to. Sit down with paper and a pen, and consider something you have always wanted to do. Now write it down, get online and work out how to do it. If it‘s possible sign up or book it right at that moment.

4. Have a party – Get your single friends together, mix some cocktails and break out Beyonce‘…it‘s single ladies time, and your house is where the party‘s at!

5.The most important tip of all. No matter where Val- entine‘s Day leads you this year, remember focus on the positive rather than the negative. Besides, loved up couples continually portrayed in Hollywood flicks, can be a far cry from relationship reality, especially on Valentine‘s Day.
