It maybe very cold to some people, but fishing in the Winter can be very rewarding, with the fresh sea air and occasionally a clear blue sky. I don’t think there is anything be>er than ge?ng up when it’s s@ll dark, driving to some of the most fantas@c coastline in the UK and se?ng about a days fishing from the Beach or a pier.
One of my favourite spots is the Aldebrough coast, it has some fairly easily reachable depths, fishing can be challenging but with the right prepara@on a mixture of fish can be targeted. I believe anywhere along that coast could deliver a good catch.
People tend to shy away from beach fishing, this is a shame, it may look daun@ng but with any kind of fishing some prior prepara@on, the correct yet fairly inexpensive tackle, bait and @ming can deliver excellent results. I would recommend to any keen angler to give it a try. Even the fresh sea air is worth it!

My buddy and I enjoy fishing the seas for our dinner and have oJen challenged ourselves on longer sessions 48 hours or so that we would only eat what we catch. It’s a fine way to diet!!

Another opportunity oJen overlooked by anglers are local piers. I recently undertook an overnight session on Clacton Pier. It was comfortable, a fair number of anglers through the day and a couple of nighters. My buddy and I even had a takeaway Chinese delivered just before midnight. The fishing itself started well with the first 2 casts delivering 2 nice dabs, a li>le later we had dogfish, Eels and more dabs.
