INSTALLATION Feature Signage installation – by the experts
....continued from page 47 Birch Signs recently completed a single corporate roll out in a
short turnaround time on behalf of two different customers, one of the country’s leading sign companies and a branding signage company. Lou explains: “The brief was to replace the signage at 200
betfred sites with the company’s new corporate ID in just 20 days. And the disruption to the day-to-day working of each open shop had to be minimal.” One of the main issues was parking in London and good organisation and careful co-ordination was essential. “We completed sites on the Red Route on Sundays and other
sites where there were particular parking problems, we carried out at night. The reason we won both contracts was our guarantee to get these jobs fitted in just 20 working days, something no other sub-contractor could have achieved I believe,” says Lou. Mike Smith says an important part of Mida Sign Services’
continued success is changing with the times and adapting the services it provides. “We constantly upgrade our equipment. Last year we invested
in a new computer system and replaced our fleet vehicles and early this year we’re installing a new telephone system and designing a new website,” says Mike. “Of course that wouldn’t be worth anything without our first-class staff and a good core of sign fitters, some have been with us over 15 years, and not forgetting our many loyal customers who are vital.”

The majority of Mida’s work now is installing not just signage but vinyl graphics, wallpapers, banners and the like. “Over recent years we’ve focussed on customers’ needs and
doing everything we can to meet those needs. For example, we’ve invested in wide format printers to offer a print and installation service to our clients, including direct to substrate printing. This means our clients just have to send us the file and we can provide an all in one service, while they get onto their next project,” says Mike. A recent project mida completted that
illustrates this was the supply and installation of art prints in Rotherham town centre in South Yorkshire for Rainforest Graphics. A total of 30 images had to be installed, all in tension frames. This involved initial site survey and planning the installation in such as way as to minimise disturbance to the town centre. All the signs were to be installed during the day working around busy pedestrian areas and careful consideration was essential in order to conform with stringent health and safety regulations affecting public places. Mida Sign Services completed the installation using its own cherry picker and hiring in a scissor lift for one particularly challenging building. Martin Horst, Director of Rainforest,
says “Choosing the right company to install the pieces of artwork for Gallery Town. Rainforest carried out research into a number of companies and after consideration selected Mida Sign Services. Their experience and expertise in this field was obvious from initial discussions right through to the installation. Their installation teams conducted themselves with utmost professionalism resulting in absolutely no issues with the fitting process from any member of the public or business community. We are delighted with our decision to use Mida Sign Services and will continue to do so for future projects.”
