UK: Champneys and Boots have continued their brand partnership with the debut of the first Champneys Day Spa to open in a Boots store in Milton Keynes, UK. Te partnership began with

the launch of Champneys spa products in Boots in April 2011.
Te 186sqm spa cost £200,000 to create and
features five treatment rooms. Commenting on the debut of the first Boots partnership spa, Champneys co-owner, Stephen Purdew said: “Tis is an exciting development and I hope this will be the first of many such stores.” Champneys has also announced that Alex De Carvalho has been appointed as Managing Director. Born in the US, Carvalho’s previous positions include 20 year’s of experience with Hilton Hotels and IHG.

US: Damian Ferris has joined supplier Universal Companies as the Director of Spa Development. Responsible for heading up spa development operations, Ferris will oversee assisting corporate clients with expansions, new facilities and streamlining operations. With more than 12 years of consulting, operations, sourcing and development experience, before joining Universal Companies, Ferris served as a consultant and as Director of Operations for Trilogy Spa as well as working on multiple other day spa projects.

Hungary: Te second phase of a new research report called 4WR: Wellness Travel 2020 has been released by Wellness Tourism Worldwide. Te research was conducted by the Hungarian company Xellum Ltd, in co-operation with Wellness Tourism Worldwide (WTW). DIvided into two sections, 4WR Phase 1 was published in June 2011 and outlined the current status of wellness tourism around the world. Te second phase offers a range of perceptions
and trends that are shaping the wellness tourism industry. It also includes forecasts on the state of wellness tourism by 2020 based upon categories including who (consumers); where (countries
offering wellness tourism products) and what (types of products available). Data for the report was collected from a total of
140 stakeholders representing wellness, tourism, spa and healthcare industries, in more than 50 countries worldwide. An international trade alliance comprised of
wellness and tourism-related organisations, Wellness Tourism Worldwide was founded to lessen the gaps that exist between health, wellbeing, leisure, tourism and sustainability. WTW’s collective goal is to accelerate wellness tourism growth.
