The Bishop of Chichester, John Hind, told parishes the aim of the visitation was to resolve a number of issues around safeguarding steps being taken in the diocese.

“During the period of the visitation, there will be liaison between myself (as the Archbishop’s delegate ) and Lambeth (through the provincial registrar), in relation to all appointments to public ministry, and any new issues concerning safeguarding, in order to provide reassurance that all steps are being taken. Consequently, any new safeguarding concerns in any part of the diocese must be immediately raised with the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Colin Perkins.”

Using the guidance parishes will discover step-by-step advice on how to write briefs, how to commission and choose artists, the special considerations applying to temporary artworks, and how to take a creative proposal through the faculty system.
