The first Scharfenberg front-end mod- ules introduced more than ten years ago marked the beginning of an unrivalled success story. What started with street- cars and regional trains has made its way into almost all new high-speed trains throughout the world: from front hatches, front-end modules including kinematics and control equipment, up to entire driver’s cab solutions with cab platform structure. Now, a new milestone has been reached.


By introducing the fibre composite ve- hicle head Galea, Voith Turbo Scharfen- berg has developed a collision-proof front-end module which complies with even the most stringent safety require- ments. The energy absorption system is primarily made of fiber compound ma- terials and fully integrated into the car body structure. Due to its light weight, Galea also safeguards the environment by re ducing carbon dioxide emissions. A clean solution – that’s for sure.
