Impact of Mobility on Education
“
While it is acknowledged that many Service children have to move schools because their serving parent is posted, and that this is part of military family life, it is still of some concern that 24% of those who took part in this survey have had to change schools at least five times. This is even more pertinent when the ages of those who took part in this survey is taken into consideration as many of them experience disruption during key stages of education.
Anecdotal evidence provided during the interactive workshops highlighted that some children have difficulty with this aspect of their lives and sometimes struggle to adapt to their new surroundings.

“Most schools I have been to have many Armed Forces children attending, therefore there were people in similar circumstances as me.”
“Boarding school has given me stability during my secondary education. I had five schools during my infant/ junior education and could not face another move during secondary school. Each move got harder. Boarding, I have made friends and feel settled and happy.”
