“It’s hard to pick up your life and have to go through the whole ‘fitting in again’ process.”
“My last move would have been made easier if there had been things in place to help me adjust to a completely different area.”
“I wish we could stay in the same place and not move every two years.”
“I enjoy life in the RAF however it does make my decisions in the next year and a bit a little bit harder as I don’t know what’s going to happen posting wise and how that will affect my university choices.”
“I help out at Brownies and help deliver the Road Rep leaflets.”
“It’s about time people started listening to the kids.”
It is reassuring to note that so many young people still like being part of a military family and appreciate the positive aspects of Service life. That said, 50% told us they would not consider joining the Armed Forces, based on their experiences of the Services so far!
On a final positive note, we were pleased to see that 22% of the young people who took part in the survey undertook some form of voluntary work, which is very commendable, for a cadre that all too often gets a bad press.
