Cam Fowler and Luca Sbisa discuss living together on the road. (This piece originally appeared in Beyond the Boards, the Ducks’ official youth hockey publication.)

How is it rooming with Cam/Luca? Fowler: Things are good. We have a good relationship. We go to sleep around the same time, and I really don’t have any complaints.

Sbisa: It’s not bad. I mean, its kind of like rooming by myself. He sleeps all day. If he doesn’t get at least twelve hours of sleep he can’t function.

What complaints do you have about living with him? Fowler:He likes to play music a lot. He puts on techno before he takes a shower. He likes to get things going. I kind of get the Techno because he is full of energy.

Sbisa: Cam doesn’t have a heartbeat. You usually room with a buddy because you’re bored and you want to talk to them and hang out, but he just sleeps. So it has its ups and downs.

Who usually controls the TV in your room, and what do you guys watch? Fowler: I hate controlling the remote, so we kind of battle over it. We typically watch movies and sports. We have similar tastes so it’s an easy choice a majority of the time.

Sbisa: Well neither of us really likes the remote so we toss it back and forth all the time. “Cammy,” when he does have the remote however, likes to watch those reality shows, like “The Kardashians.” I think Chloe is his favorite.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve learned about him since living with him? Fowler: He has this ritual on game day where he Skypes with his family and friends back home. They speak Swiss-German and it’s really loud, so he usually does that when I’m try- ing to watch TV.

Sbisa: This one night he really freaked me out. He usually goes to bed about two hours before I do. So I’m watching TV and I hear this guy making weird noises. I kind of ignore him for a bit because I thought it was the TV. He keeps doing it and I ask him if he’s okay. He doesn’t answer. About five minutes later, he starts yelling and mumbling weird things again, so I say, “Cam, are you okay?” He then goes, (Luca throws his arms up straight in the air) “Whoop, there it is!” in his sleep. So I yelled at him, “Cam, Cam you have to get up! You have to wake up!” I literally thought that he was possessed by M.C. Hammer. After that I asked, “What were you dreaming about?” He replied, “Nothing.” So that was definitely pretty freaky.

Who takes longer to get ready in the morning? Fowler: I would have to say me. “Sbis” gets up and he gets showered and ready to go. I’m usually the one that’s lazy getting out of bed.

Sbisa: I would have to say Cam. I usually get up about an hour before the bus. He gets up about an hour and fifteen minutes before the bus. We get up, grab breakfast and still have about 10 minutes before the bus. But if we are on Cam’s schedule, we have like a half hour to waste because he gets up so early. I guess it makes sense because he sleeps so much.
