Sue Nash Carroll


Sue Nash Carroll, 85, of


Fairfield, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 16, 2012 in Fairfield. Services were 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Capps Memorial Chapel with Pastor Eston (Buddy) Turner officiating. Interment followed at Stewards Mill Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at Capps Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Carroll was born January


26, 1926 in Tennessee Colony, to parents Sidney and Artie Gage McKenzie. Sue married Art Nash and they made their home in Edinburg. After his death she attended cosmetology school. She then married Wayne Carroll and started her business in Fairfield which she operated until retirement due to illness. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield and in the later years became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was a member of the “Pink Ladies” for several years serving as Secretary, Vice-President and President. She was a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Fairfield Eagles. She loved her family and “Misty” her dog, very much. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Art Nash and Wayne Carroll; brothers and sisters, Murphy McKenzie; Ruth Moser; Audrey McKenzie; Martin McKenzie; a son, David Nash. Pallbearers were Roland Hardy, Darin McKenzie, Kevin McKenzie, Scottie Nash, Brandon Nash and Cindy Hardy. Honorary bearers were Ronnie McKenzie, Gary McKenzie, Greg Hardy, Jeff Smithers and Bryan McKenzie. Left to cherish her memory is

Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church, 201 North Mount Street, Fairfield, Texas 75840 with Rev. A. L. Thibodeaux, pastor of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Viewing was at the church from 12:00 PM until the service began at 1:00 PM. Interment followed in Fairfield Methodist Cemetery. Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. He was born in Buffalo on November 24, 1935 to parents Joyce and Rachel White; and loved there all his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church as well as the American Legion Post # 345, worked as a carpenter for many years and loved to fish and hunt. Roger loved his animals, especially his little dog “Skip”. He was very much loved and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife,

Funeral Services for Ruby Lois Newsom, 97, will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow the


services at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Visitation will be held prior


to the service on Wednesday only. Ms. Newsom passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Trinity Mission Rehab in Italy, TX. She was born & raised in Farrar, lived in Hubbard for several years, and spent most of her life in Waco before moving to Italy seven years ago. Ms. Newsom enjoyed playing Skip- Bo and growing Roses & Irises in her garden for many years. She was a very gentle and loving person. Ms. Newsom was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Waco for over fifty years.


She is survived by two


daughters, Betty Brewer & husband Jim of Rogers, Arkansas, and Sherry Moore & husband Bryan of Frost; four grandchildren, Tammy Green, Greg Grisham, Latisha Wendel, and Traci Bentoe; seven great- grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends. 81st Birthday Tau Chapter Celebrates


Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International celebrated the 81st birthday of the chapter at the January 9 meeting held in the lovely home of Donna Landers in Teague. Tau was founded January 17, 1931, the 19th chapter to be established in the State of Texas and one of the oldest chapters still in existence in the entire international organization found throughout the United States and in 14 foreign countries. Each attendee brought a teacup and saucer wrapped as a birthday gift. After a rousing Chinese gift exchange, the ladies used their new cups at the birthday tea party that was complete with wonderful selections of tea, scones, sandwiches and other delicious tidbits! A highlight of the meeting was the initiation of two new

Mr. Leslie Y. (Skipper) Red, 73, were held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Bro. Grady Moore officiated. visitation was held on Friday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Red passed away on


Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. He was born and raised in


Teague and graduated from Teague High School with the Class of 1958. Mr. Red served in the u.S. Navy and was very proud to be a veteran. He married Lynda on December 18, 1974, and shared over thirty-seven years together. Skipper worked for the railroad in Teague as a Conductor for thirty-one years. He enjoyed collecting coins and


railroad memorabilia of all kinds. Mr. Red was a Baptist and attended at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife,


Lynda Lou Red of Teague; one daughter, Deborah Lynn Red Newell & husband Richard of Biloxi, MS; three grandchildren, Devon Batie, Misty Batie, and J. D. Batie; one sister, Mary Alma Sartor & husband Jerrell of Teague; two nieces, Leslie Brown and Dana Pate; one nephew, Orville Thomas, Jr.; first cousins, Joan Grounds and Billye Orand; Mr. Red was preceded in
