PART OF THE TEAGUE HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAMS traveled to Midway High School in Waco on Saturday, January 14, 2012, to compete in their academic invitational tournament. Teague High School won second place overall in the Speech Competition and came away with an impressive trophy. Individual award winners were: Caitlyn Chandler first in Informative Speaking, Katie Burleson third in Informative Speaking, Nathan Havens second in Lincoln- Douglas Debate, Andrew Roman third in Persuasive Speaking, and James McKeand fourth in Persuasive Speaking. The competition included schools from Fairfield, Connallyl, Grandview, Ennis, Brownwood, Salado, Joshua, and others. The entire Teague High School UIL academic squads will travel to Mexia on Saturday, January 21, 2012, to compete in their Snowflake Tournament.

Wortham Powerlifting Team Earns Medals Wortham ISD students


earned medals in their respective weight class divisions at the Bosqueville Powerlifting meet. Winners include Destiny Bennett for third place, Kaitlin Eagle for fifth place, and Kierra Busby for first place. Key lifter, Kierra Busby, a sophomore, is the first Wortham student to win a power-lifting meet. Coach Shane Doege and


Assistant Coach Sandy Young took 9 members of the Wortham High School power- lifting team to Bosqueville last weekend for the third meet of the season. The three girls who won in addition to six boys competed: David Busby, Camren Lewis, Haven Proulx, Shane Sykora, Cody Beck, Daniel Perez, and Angus Worcester. Coach Doege said, “The


Bulldogs competed in several weight divisions. Everyone did a great job.” Coach Young stated, “Kierra and Kaitlin were coming off successes at Rice the week before where they placed sixth in their weight classes. For the boys, Camren Lewis placed fifth at
