Est. 1905 Musical première
LOCAL musicians and performers have a chance to take part in a community event premièring at this year’s Eden Valley Festival.
The musical production tells the story of The Creation of Eden – which links a re- telling of the Bible sequence with the formation of the Eden Valley as related by the Rev Somers-Cocks in his 1912 history of Edenbridge.
The Creation piece will feature local singing group, A Cappella but more singers, musicians and dancers are needed. Choir rehearsals will be on Sunday evenings at St Peter and
St.Paul Church. Rehearsals for the full cast will be at 7.45pm on 11 March, 15 April and 20 May. The performance will be on Saturday, 9 June with a full rehearsal earlier in the afternoon. The organisers are now looking for singers, choristers and community singers, tenor and soprano soloists, instrumental musicians and dancers. If you feel you could contribute your skills please contact Jacky Hintze at
hintez@virginmedia.com.

The idea is that people offer their skills and knowledge to others and can then receive the help they need in return. This can be anything from household chores, gardening and DIY to teaching, design work and bookkeeping. For every one hour you spend being a good neighbour you earn one time credit. “It’s a way of getting jobs done for free and making the community more cohesive,” explained project co-ordinator Sarah Pearson. “Say you walk someone’s dog for an hour you can bank that time and get something back. Maybe get your front room decorated or your
gardening done. “If you do not want to have the hours for yourself you can donate them to a friend, neighbour or someone elderly.” Boomerang was launched in Edenbridge last summer but is already running in Sevenoaks and Swanley. Volunteer Ben Brownless said he joined because he wanted to get involved in the local community and meet new people. “It’s really a great way of helping people,” he said. “It’s a win, win situation.” So far Ben, who is a teacher, has cleared someone’s shed and is waiting for a haircut in exchange, and was scheduled to do some 11 plus
