“Thumbs down. While

watching this evenings news on TV there was a clip with Buffet and his secretary where she said that she represented the average American when she paid taxes at a rate of 35%. In order to pay that tax rate she needs to earn at least $379,000, which I believe is well above the average Americans income. Therefore she is not representative of most secretaries or the average wage earner as she claimed during the interview.”

“Thumbs down to this Penn State nonsense. I don't care how great you are, in my opinion this head coach is no better than any other pedophile protector. Instead of holding vigils and mourning him think about all the kids he could have saved. His recent passing was too ‘easy.’ He should still be here answering for his actions.”

“Thumbs up! To the Litchfield

Police Department, and in particular to Officer Savage, for their diligence and ultimate success in solving the case of the rogue bandit that was pillaging our small community at Olson’s MHP. It is through their professional efforts at serving that we can now feel more secure in our homes. Thank you!”

“Thumbs down. When I looked at the front page of the January 27th edition of the HLN, I was embarrassed for the editorial staff of the newspaper. The spelling error in the headline ‘MooreMart's Paul Moore Recieves Award’ had a spelling error (the word receive). As a 9th grade journalism teacher and high school yearbook adviser, I see misspellings quite often, but it was shocking to see this error in a headline. Let's get those proofreaders on the lookout!”

by Sue LaRoche The Lady Broncos continued their road escapades, as they traveled to Keene on Friday, January 27, and lost 62-50 but bounced right back as they visited Concord in a girl/boy doubleheader defeating the Crimson Tide 43-21 on Tuesday, January 31. The Lady Broncos ran into a stubborn Keene squad, who according to their coach played their best game of the year, as they shot 45 percent from the field and an amazing 63 percent from the 3- point stripe. The Broncos shooting percentage on the other hand was below their average shooting 26 percent from the field and 21 percent from the 3-point stripe. The Broncos were led by Sandi Purcell with 18 points and Veronica Moceri with 11 points and six rebounds. Jessica Underwood had eight points and two rebounds while Maya Desfosses chipped in with four points and six rebounds. The Lady Broncos handed Concord a 43-21

loss in a game that was never in doubt from the beginning. Alvirne played great team basketball as they took a 13-8 lead in the first quarter and extended that lead to 27-12 and never looked back. Alvirne came out strong in the third quarter, a quarter that has been trouble for them throughout this season, and managed to add to their lead, 35-17. Veronica Moceri led the Broncos with 15 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist, followed by Leanne Winans with seven points, one rebound, one blocked shot and one steal. Sandi Purcell had five points, five assists and three steals on the night. Seniors Jess Underwood and Maya Desfosses chipped in with four points each with 10 rebounds between them. Alvirne now sports a record of 5-6 on the season and will host two home games on February 7 against Londonderry and February 10 against Nashua South.

“Thumbs down (sort of). When parking at the Litchfield Town Forest, please park so

additional cars can possibly park. It should easily hold 4 cars.”

“Thumbs down to whichever neighbor has left their Pier 1 Tall cabinet cardboard packing box on my lawn this past week or so. It has a tag from Pinard that it is over-sized and now we have to

“Thumbs down, to the Hudson School Board members. The population of school age children is approx 6,806 in Hudson. Nashua has about 21,845 school age children. Hudson's Local School tax rate in 2011 was $8.35 and Nashua's was $9.16 a difference of $0.81. Hudson is paying a local school tax rate of nearly the same as Nashua! Hudson's Local school tax rate should be reduced by 75% due to less children in the Hudson School

system. So, why is our local state school tax so high? This tax rate is 50.24% of Hudson's resident’s taxes! HSBM, revise the fy2013 school budget without a tax increase to the taxpayer!”

“Thumbs down to the profanity on the girl’s bathrooms at HMS. My 7-year-old little girl needed to use the bathroom during a Rec. baseketball game and she pointed out the graffiti and swears. Real nice. Students responsible? Get a grip and grow up. School? Please paint over it! No little ones should have to read that profanity! I, for one, am extremely upset!”

“Thumbs up to the Church Billboard on Rt. 111 for putting up ‘The world needs more warm hearted Christians’. Shame on the individual who feels that the Church shouldn’t be able to practice their free speech and freedom of religion, and pass along a loving statement. The world doesn’t revolve around your beliefs.”

“Thumbs down. To the Hudson police officer that let the 18-year-old drunk driver go after crashing her car into a ditch after drinking at a high school dance. Great way to protect the rest of us. Having her write a paper for you will do nothing, she already knows it is wrong and has probably already started drinking again. If I had your badge number you would not have a badge. You are disgusting to me, officer.”

“Thumbs down to the Hudson Fire Administration and Board of Selectmen for leaving our pregnant firefighter out in the cold. You had been given many opportunities to help a pregnant town employee and you all refused. Can you get more obvious in your discrimination against our firefighters? It seems we have a pregnant police employee on light duty right now, but won’t offer the same to the firefighter. Seems the police chief knows how to take care of his employees.”
