Why Study Diploma in Business?
BTEC qualifications are designed to provide specialist work related qualifications and are recognised by both employers and organisations which offer further and higher education.
The BTEC Firsts in Business have been designed to develop a knowledge and understanding of the business sector. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills which link to a range of specialist business areas, through the completion of a number of units. Students will be assessed throughout the course as they provide evidence towards the grading criteria through coursework, assignments, project work, case studies, role play and presentations. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and achievement.
All work is internally assessed and externally moderated. There are no formal examinations which means that students must be prepared to work independently both at home as well as at school in order to meet the requirements of the examining body.
This course is equivalent to four GCSEs A* - C grades. Students will be graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* which equates to GCSE grades of C (160 points), B (184 points), A (208 points) and A* (232 points). Grades D-G are not available. The examining body for this course is Edexcel.

These units begin to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of businesses and how they operate. they will enable learners to understand the nature of business organisations, the business environment in which they operate and how they are organised to achieve their aims and objectives.

To be admitted to this course you need to have a minimum of 3 GCSE A*-C grades, 222 points and at least a grade D in English Language and Mathemat- ics. In order to progress to Level 3, you will need to achieve a Pass at Level 2 as a minimum, with at least 2 modules at Merit level.
