CACHE CHILD CARE COURSES One Year AS-Level Course or Full Two Year A-Level Course


Two courses are offered in the Sixth Form.


CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Children & Young People’s Workforce A one year course. Entry Requirements: 4 GCSE D grades The course is worth 5 GCSEs at grades A-C. Can lead straight to employment with children.


Can lead to progression onto the Cache Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.


CACHE Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Childcare and Education A two year course.


Entry: 5 GCSE’s at C grade including English Language or above and 382 GCSE points. Worth 3 ‘A’ Levels (360 UCAS points).


Can lead straight to employment at age 18 with a childcare setting or can qualify students for University.


CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Children & Young People’s Workforce


Units of assessment carry a credit value. Credits are taught using many learning methods such as: Classes Tutorials Practical work Assessments Independent research Work Experience


Core Units to be studied:


Introduction to communication in health, social care or children & young people’s settings


Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children & young people’s setting


Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children & young people’s settings Child & young person development Contribute to the support of child & young person development


Placements are arranged for students. Normally 2 days of every week are spent out of school on placement at local Primary schools or Nurseries.

The Council is the only awarding body, which specialises in making awards in childcare and education, and play work.

Students will be asked for names of 2 referees who can recommend them as suitable for a childcare course.


CRB checks are compulsory for all who apply for these courses as they will be working with children.
