Unit 1 - The Travel & Tourism Industry
This Unit will provide you with an understanding of the nature and characteristics of the travel and tourism industry and how it developed. You will also learn about the scale and structure of one of the biggest and fastest growing industries in the UK.
Assessment: Externally Tested - 1½ hour examination in June Unit 2 - The Travel & Tourism Customer
This Unit looks at how organisations most focus upon customer service in order to retain their competitive edge. You will develop your own customer service skills and you will be expected to carry out practical activities and assessments.
Assessment: Internally Assessed - Externally moderated Unit 3 - Destination Europe
In this Unit you will look at destinations in Europe that both leisure and business travellers use. You will look at where they are located, the features that give them popularity and appeal and the transport routes.

Unit 7 - Responsible Tourism
In this Unit you will consider issues such as responsible, sustainable, green and ethical tourism. You will study a range of destinations to see if tourism development in these destinations follows the principles of responsible tourism.
Assessment: Externally Tested - 1½ hour examination in June Unit 8 - Current Issues in Travel & Tourism
In this Unit you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of an issue that is currently affecting the travel and tourism industry. You will be planning, carrying out and presenting a research project on a tourism related issue of your choice.
Assessment: Internally Assessed/ Externally Moderated Unit 12 - Travel Organisations
This Unit provides you with the opportunity to investigate one sector of the travel and tourism industry in depth. You will select an organisation and consider its operations, products and services.
Assessment: Internally Assessed/ Externally Moderated Testing periods are January and June. 55
Travel and Tourism has been very interesting and I have
thoroughly enjoyed the work I have completed throughout
the 6th Form. It has given me the opportunity to see how
the industry works. It has also taught me how to present my work in a number of ways
