AS/A2 IN TRAVEL & TOURISM One Year AS-Level Course or Full Two Year A-Level Course
Entry Requirements
You do not need to have studied GCSE Travel & Tourism to be considered for this course
However, students should have achieved at least a grade C in their GCSE English Language and ideally at least a grade C in Geography.
In Year 12 students will undertake one weeks compulsory work experience in a Travel
and Tourism
organisation to support their studies.
Why Study Travel & Tourism?
This is a broad based qualification which encourages students to explore the breadth of the travel and tourism sector. It will stimulate and sustain students’ interest in and enjoyment of the industry and enable students to gain knowledge and understanding, as well as developing practical skills.
In order to study this subject successfully you will need to be self motivated and keen to research independently, using a wide range of sources. This is because two thirds of the qualification is essential through the completion of substantial pieces of coursework.
Students with an ‘A’ Level in Travel and Tourism can expect to work within this growing industry or study for a degree in Travel and Tourism or the hospitality industry. Previous students have gained employment in hotels, airlines, the conference industry and working for tour operators.
This subject can be studied as a one year ‘AS’ Level course or a full two year ‘A’ Level.
How are the lessons taught? Students will study in class for nine hours per fortnight.
