Unit 4 - Leisure in Action


This Unit gives you the opportunity to work as part of a team to plan, run and evaluate a leisure event of your choice.


Assessment: Portfolio – Coursework Unit 5 - Employment in Leisure


This Unit investigates people who work in the leisure industry, working practices, employment legislation and motivation. This will help you to prepare and develop the skills you need to work successfully in the leisure industry.


Assessment: 1 ½ hour written exam January/June Unit 6 - Current Issues in Leisure


This Unit will allow you to develop your own interest in a leisure related issue. You will be planning, carrying out and presenting a research project.

AS/A2 IN MATHEMATICS One Year AS-Level Course or Full Two Year A-Level Course


Why Study Mathematics?


The course at both A and AS level will build on the work you met at GCSE but will also involve new ideas that are both challenging and interesting. It serves as a useful support for many other qualifications, as well as being a sought after qualification for the workplace and courses in Higher Education.


While studying Mathematics you can expect to:


Use mathematical skills and knowledge to solve problems Simplify real life situations so that you can use mathematics to show what is happening and what might happen in different circumstances.


Use graphics calculators and other resources effectively; understand their limitations and when it is appropriate to use such technology.


Solve quite complicated problems by using mathematical arguments and logic.


During the course of Year 12 the progress of students studying the AS Level will be carefully monitored in order to assess the advisability of them continuing to study Mathematics to the full A Level.


What does the course involve?


The course is split into units, which cover the three branches of mathematics:
