AS/A2 IN DRAMA & THEATRE STUDIES One Year AS-Level Course or Full Two Year A-Level Course
Why Study Drama?
Drama and Theatre Studies is a lively, dynamic and stimulating course which offers its students the opportunity to participate in a range of practical and academic pursuits. The course demands practical, creative and communication skills in almost equal measure. Students will extend their ability to create drama and theatre, either in a performing or production role. They will also be required to write about drama and develop their powers of analysis and to become an informed critic. The course will involve taking part in productions as well as studying plays and playwrights.
This AS and Advanced GCE can lead to further studying in Performing Arts in Higher education at degree and HND level. It can be used as part of a course to broaden A level studies and may lead to a career in the performing arts industries. It complements a range of subjects and is useful in building confidence and improving presentation skills in a range of careers.
Students will have to attend classes for at least 9 hours over a fortnight, however the nature of the subject demands that many more hours will be spent in rehearsal and visiting the theatre.
