At the beginning of 2011, Diamantes Restaurant in El Mojón, launched the Ebony & Ivory Ladies’ Lunch Club with the aim of raising 1000€ for MABS Cancer Support Group by the end of the year. In September, with just three months to go, the figure had already reached an amazing 688€ and, through the press, an appeal was made to encourage more ladies to share in the monthly lunches thus ensuring that the final target would be met.
Well it was – and more! The December lunch saw the ladies enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal with entertainment by Viva Quartet. Everyone dug deeply into their pockets to buy those extra raffle tickets and at the end of the lunch, Diamantes’ owners, Terri and Karla, announced that they had exceeded their goal. They proudly presented MABS with the fantastic sum of 1,149€.
“This is a marvellous achievement and I’d like to thank Terri, Karla and everyone who attended the lunches for supporting us,” said MABS Fundraiser, Janet Bell. “It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know everyone during the year and I know we all intend to continue these friendships.”
Indeed they will, because the Lunch Club is going to carry on through 2012. The first lunch will be held on Tuesday, 21st February at 1.30 pm for 2.00 pm. The three course lunch and glass of wine is just 10€. All Ladies are welcome to come along; to meet and to make new friends. Book your place with Diamantes on 965 352 947.
