Acker Bilk & His Paramount Jazz Band first gained worldwide fame with the hit single 'Stranger On The Shore' in 1962 - it stayed in the charts for 55 weeks and was the first number 1 hit in UK and USA simultaneously. Since then Acker and his band have established themselves as one of the best loved British jazz bands of all time.
