KVH Industries unveiled a new 1m diameter TracVision HD11 marine satellite TV system at the Southampton Boat Show. The components include a four-axis stabilised antenna that tracks satellites on the horizon as well as directly overhead and a below deck control unit. It was developed mainly for the yacht market, but is available for commercial shipping. TracVision HD11 has a digitally programmable receiver compatible with all direct-to-home satellite TV services and HDTV programming. It comes with KVH’s TriAD antenna for
BW Offshore has taken a new approach to contracting the automation, control, engineering and telecoms (ACET) package for its BW Joko Tole floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It has awarded a US$20 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) subcontract to Kongsberg Maritime to deliver the complete package instead of organising the separate parts itself. Aframax tanker BW Genie was acquired last year for the 12-month conversion at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore. In 2012, BW Joko Tole will be chartered to Japanese group Kangean Energy for 10 years to produce hydrocarbons from the Terang Sirasun Batur (TSB) fields in Indonesia. This is the first time BW Offshore has chosen this contracting model for the ACET package
in Nova Scotia.
Imtech currently also has service and maintenance contracts with major shipowners including AP Møller-Maersk, Reederei Blue Star, Vroon Ship Management and NYK LNG Shipmanagement.

simultaneous reception of Ka-band and Ku-band satellite broadcasts from North America’s DirectTV. TracVision HD11 also includes an IP antenna control unit, Ethernet connection, built- in WiFi and apps for iPads and iPhones. The antenna comes with a four-axis pedestal and has a range of motion -25 degrees to +120 degrees. TracVision HD11 has RF7 satellite identification fully integrated DVB-S2 compatibility, integrated GPS for fast satellite acquisition and keyhole satellite tracking along the Equator.
FPSO system and equipment package preferred to separate parts
due to the complexity of the project, says BW Offshore’s TSB project manager, Rolf Normann. “Usually we shop around for various parts from a number of vendors and put it together ourselves at the shipyard. This time, we have let someone else provide the ACET package for us,” he adds. Kongsberg will do everything from designing the installation and procuring the necessary materials, to constructing parts with the help of subcontractors. Kongsberg’s delivery includes design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and supply of all materials, equipment, accessories and tools. It is installing the complete integrated automation control, electrical hardware and telecommunication systems on BW Joko Tole. Deliveries began in July when the topside modules were being fitted on the ship’s deck. MP
