Carmel Middle School 8th


Grade Orchestra


The 8th Grade Symphony Orchestra is the advanced orchestra at Carmel Middle School. This year there are 36 students enrolled in the class. Students in this group began their instruction in 6th grade and have been playing for approximately two and half years. The group performs as a string orchestra most of the time, but we do offer a full orchestra program at Carmel Middle School students for 8th grade band and orchestra students at the winter and spring concerts.

Caston High School Band


The 70-member Caston Comet Band, under the direction of James Byrn, is the premier performing ensemble of the Caston band program and serves students in grades 9-12. The band’s annual performances include several parades as well as fall, winter and spring concerts, and participation in many community service projects. The band is actively involved in bringing new music to the educational world, recently pioneering the use of technology in the classroom


by bringing virtual guest artists such as Stephen Melillo, Tom Davis, Alice Hammel, and TRAPT guitarist Robb Torres into their rehearsals. In April 2011 they premiered commissioned works by composers Stephen Melillo and Tom Davis.

GWCC Anthony Wayne Ballroom – 1:00 p.m. Hobart Hi-Hatters


The Hobart Hi-Hatters is a six-member ensemble made up of students from the Hobart High School Jazz Band, a group that regularly appears at the Purdue Jazz Festival, ISSMA Jazz Festivals, and Valparaiso University Jazz Festival.

Millikin University Choir


The Millikin University Choir is the flagship ensemble in the Millikin choral fleet of five traditional choirs and a variety of vocal ensembles involving more than 300 students. Annual tours throughout the United States punctuate the choir’s already busy performance calendar. In the last five years the choir has also toured internationally to China, Taiwan, Ireland, Scotland and England. The choir has produced five CDs on Millikin’s First Step label.
