Director:


Shawn D. Vondran is Assistant Professor of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music Performance at Ball State University. His responsibilities at Ball State include conducting the Symphony Band, directing the “Pride of Mid-America” Marching Band, and teaching courses in conducting and instrumental methods. Prior to his appointment at Ball State, he served as Associate Director of Bands at Western Illinois University and Youngstown State University. He began his professional teaching career at Mentor High School in Ohio, where his concert, jazz and marching bands


consistently received superior ratings and accolades for their outstanding performances during his four-year tenure. Dr. Vondran holds degrees from University of Miami (2009), Youngstown State University (2005), and The Ohio State University (2000).

Butler University Chorale


The Butler University Chorale is the premier choral organization of the Jordan College of Fine Arts. The Chorale’s membership is made up of graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of professional academic disciplines in music including music education, performance, and arts administration. The Chorale has a long history of excellence and has toured through much of the continental United States, Mexico and Europe, including a 1992 tour to Austria and Italy, a 1995 tour to the Czech Republic and France, and a 1998 tour to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Major concert appearances have included engagements with the National Chamber Orchestra of Mexico, the Indianapolis


Chamber Orchestra, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and such venues as Canterbury Cathedral, Saint Francis Church in Salzburg, Notre Dame in Paris, Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City and Saints John and Paul Church in Venice. The Chorale is under the direction of Eric Stark. Membership is open to all students by annual spring audition.


Director:


Eric Stark continues to build upon a highly regarded career as conductor, educator, collaborator and community leader. He is Professor of Music, Director of Graduate Studies, and Assistant Chair of the School of Music at Butler University’s Jordan College of Fine Arts, where he conducts the Butler Chorale, teaches graduate and undergraduate conducting and choral literature, and serves as coordinator of the vocal and choral areas. His doctoral degree in choral conducting is from Indiana University. Dr. Stark is also Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and has conducted
