Pierson, Pamela


Pamela Pierson is currently the elementary music teacher, Director of Fine Arts and elementary


principal at Lakewood Park


Christian School in Auburn, where she teaches students in grades preK through 5. She also directs the Treble Choir of the Fort


Wayne Children’s Choir. Prior to teaching at Lakewood Park, Pamela was an elementary general music teacher in Fort Wayne Community Schools for 18 years where she spent most of her career at Weisser Park Arts Magnet School and served FWCS as the district’s elementary music liaison. Pamela received her bachelor’s degree in music education from Taylor University, Fort Wayne and her M.Ed. in curriculum development from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is certified in Level I and II of Orff-Schulwerk.


Pivec, Matt received a D.M.A. in saxophone performance


As a performer of jazz and popular music, Matt Pivec has worked with Ray Charles, The Temptations, Dave Rivello, Bob Brookmeyer, Peter Erskine, Maria Schneider, Julia Dollison, Melvin Rhyne and the Buselli-Wallarab Jazz Orchestra. Matt and


literature, an M.M. in jazz studies and contemporary media from the Eastman School of Music, and a B.M.E. from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Matt is the director of jazz studies at Butler University where he leads the Jazz Ensemble 1 and teaches courses in jazz studies curriculum. In February 2009, Matt founded the Butler Youth Jazz Program, a select jazz ensemble comprised of students from the Indianapolis area.


Pratt, Stephen


Dr. Stephen Pratt is Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he conducts the internationally renowned Wind Ensemble and teaches graduate conducting and wind band


history. Under his direction the Indiana University Wind Ensemble has performed at several national conventions and in other distinguished venues. He has been on the IU Jacobs School of Music faculty since 1984, following several years of teaching in the public schools of Michigan. He was a national recipient of the Distinguished Service to Music Medal awarded by Kappa Kappa Psi in 1993, and was the IMEA Outstanding University Music Educator in 2001. Dr. Pratt is in constant demand as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator.


Punwar, Katherine


Katherine Punwar has been teaching choir, orchestra, general music and band in Minnesota and Wisconsin for 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She is also an active composer


whose commissions include pieces for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, the Bloomington, Illinois School District, the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras, South Milwaukee School District, Tippasuakee and Monona Grove School District. She has conducted music festivals and taught summer music camps in Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. She was a facilitator and member of the WSMA (Wisconsin School Music Association) Comprehensive


Musicianship Through Performance


Project for over ten years, and continues to be an Educational Consultant for Yamaha Corporation of America for the MIE (Music in Education) system for over fifteen years. She has taught general music with the MIE system for twenty years. Katherine lives in Monona, Wisconsin.


Rafferty, J. Patrick


J. Patrick Rafferty has served as Concertmaster of the Symphonies of Milwaukee, San Diego, Seattle, and the Dallas Bach Orchestra. He has performed over 40 solo works with orchestra, as well as many recitals and chamber music performances throughout


the world. Currently, he is first violin with the Louisville String Quartet, a founding member of the Grawemeyer Player, and Professor of Violin at the University of Louisville. He has been lecturer for KMEA, ASTA with NSOA ASTA National Studio Teachers Forum, MTNA, and MENC. He has also held numerous other lectures, clinics, workshops and masterclasses in Europe, South America, China and the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida,


Tennessee, Massachusetts, New York, North


Carolina and South Carolina. Schoeff, Natalie L.


Natalie Schoeff is in her sixth year serving as the Director of Orchestras at Carmel Middle School. Under Mrs. Schoeff’s direction, the Carmel Middle School orchestra program has continued to grow and earn top awards. She is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education and Violin. While attending Indiana University, Mrs. Schoeff studied string pedagogy with Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner at the Indiana University String Academy. She enjoys the study of pedagogy and desires to continue learning new ways to implement sound teaching in her program. Mrs. Schoeff considers it an honor and blessing to serve as a teacher, mentor and musician in the Carmel community.
