Gallina, Jill & Michael
Dr. Michael and Jill Gallina have achieved national prominence as award-winning composers of musical plays and choral music for elementary, middle and high school singers. Their clever creations in story and song have consistently won
awards from the Parents Choice Foundation, American Library Service and ASCAP. Both Michael and Jill received bachelor’s degrees in music from the College of New Jersey, and the Gallinas are recipients of the Stanley Austin Alumni Award from the College of New Jersey for their many accomplishments in the field of composition. Jill was an elementary school music teacher before becoming a full time composer. Michael completed a master’s degree in music from the College of New Jersey and a doctorate in administration and supervision from Rutgers University. Gerrity, Kevin W.
Kevin W. Gerrity is Assistant Professor of Music Education at Ball State University. Prior to his appointment at Ball State, he spent 13 years teaching instrumental and general music at both secondary and university levels in Ohio. Dr. Gerrity holds a
B.M.E. from Otterbein College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from The Ohio State
University. His primary teaching
responsibilities include secondary general music methods, introduction to music education, music teaching and learning, and research in music education. Dr. Gerrity’s research interests include teacher preparation, the impact of policy on music education, the integration of music and reading instruction, and issues related to adolescence and the teaching of secondary general music.
Glashauser, Jason
Jason Glashauser teaches K-4 general music for Concord Community Schools in Elkhart. He holds three levels of Orff-Schulwerk Certification and serves on the advisory board of the Greater Chicago American Orff Schulwerk Association. In addition, he is an
adjunct horn instructor at Bethel College and St. Mary’s College, where he also teaches a brass methods class. He has a B.M. from the University of Toledo and an M.M. degree from Western Michigan University.
Graves, Betsy
Betsy Graves has been the band director at Loogootee Jr./Sr. High School for eighteen years and has been teaching band grades 6-12 for 26 years. She received the B.S. and M.S. in music education from Indiana State University. She has maintained an active
private flute studio for 32 years. Betsy lives in Loogootee with her husband Rick, and they have two grown children. She is active in IBA, ISSMA and IMEA.
Grenier, Brian
Brian Grenier is the band director at Hobart High School. As a trombone player, Brian has performed with the North Coast Jazz Band, Star Orchestra, Windiana Concert Band, South Shore British Brass Band, and LaPorte County Symphony. He holds degrees from Indiana State University and the VanderCook College of Music.
Grice, June
June Grice is the Music Education Coordinator at Morehead State University in Kentucky. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa. Dr. Grice was the founder and the coordinator of the Kodály Institute
of
Colorado at Colorado State University and the Kodály Institute of Kentucky at Morehead State University. She received her Kodály certification from Silver Lake College with Sister Lorna Zemke and has studied the Kodály philosophy in the schools of Hungary. She has presented workshops and been a clinician at conferences in West Virginia, Colorado and Kentucky and has presented research at the International Kodály Symposium in Britain, Colorado State Conferences.

Hammel, Alice Dr. Alice M. Hammel, a leader in the field of students with special needs and music, currently teaches for James Madison and Christopher Newport Universities, and the St. Andrew’s School. Dr. Hammel is a contributing author to several resources
available through NAfME. Her online course titled “On Music and Special Learners” is available through Connect for Education. A new text and online resource, Teaching Music to Students with Special Needs: A Label-free Approach, is available through Oxford University Press. Dr. Hammel serves in many concurrent state and national professional leadership positions and is a multiple award recipient honoring her commitment to music education and music teacher education.
