Davis, Thomas


With music degrees from Ithaca College and The Eastman School of Music, Tom Davis has been an educator at the high school level for 28 years. He has studied trumpet with Herb Mueller and Vincent DiMartino and jazz improvisation and composition


with Bill Dobbins, Rayburn White, Ramon Ricker, John LaBarbera, Steve Brown, Samuel Adler, Robert Morris and Dana Wilson.


Dean, Abrianne


Abrianne Dean studied under Dr. Ted Piechocinski at Indiana State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Music Business Administration in 2009. She has worked for the Indiana State School Music Association as well as the Indiana Music


Educators Association for the past three years. Abrianne is primarily responsible for both organizations’ copyright compliance as well as providing a copyright service for ISSMA member schools.


Deckard, Anne and Carol Lindquist Anne Deckard teaches


vocal music at


Eastwood Middle School. Her achievements include building a strong program of music understanding and performance, as well as incorporating productive reading strategies that help her school meet ISTEP goals. After


35 years in K-12 education as a teacher and administrator, Dr. Carol Lindquist now teaches pre-service teachers and principals at IPFW. Her course in Critical Reading in the Content Areas helps students understand the reading demands of their content areas and become proficient in using research-based methods for enhancing reading skills required to understand that content area. Ms. Deckard is active in community musical theatre for young people in the Indianapolis area and Dr. Lindquist serves as vice- president of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra Board.


Dimmick, Penny


Penny Dimmick is Professor of Music and coordinator of the music education program at Butler University where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. She earned degrees in music education and percussion


performance from Taylor University and Ball State University along with Orff and Kodály cerifications. Her research interests lie in teacher preparation and retention, arts integration and arts technology integration in the K-12 classroom, and the globalization of the undergraduate and graduate music education curriculum. Dr. Dimmick is an assistant


director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir


where she directs the preparatory choirs, a part of the Early Childhood Division of ICC. She is also director of music and worship at Sunnyside Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis.


Ditmer, Nancy


Nancy Ditmer, NAfME President-Elect, is currently the Director of Bands and Professor of Music Education at the College of Wooster, Ohio, and has been a respected and devoted leader in music education for many years. She is a past President of the


Ohio Music Educators Association, the recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Service Award from the OMEA, and past President of the North Central Division of NAfME. In 2008, she was designated a Lowell Mason Fellow by NAfME. A respected scholar and author, Ms. Ditmer edited the OMEA publication, Triad. She has been a frequent presenter


at state and national music education


conferences over the last 15 years, on such relevant topics as education reform, music education advocacy, and professional development issues for teachers. Nancy is the founder and director of the Wooster Music Camp, which has hosted 450 music students playing in five bands and two orchestras since 1997.
