Melody Makers of Indiana Concert – Scott Buchanan First Pres. Church

The Melody Makers of Indiana Association, aka Indiana Extension Chorus, was started by Dr. Albert P. Steward in 1934 with a small group of women from Tippecanoe County who sang for a radio show on WBAA at Purdue University. The women enjoyed singing so much that they requested Dr. Stewart to continue directing the group. The program was expanded in conjunction with the Purdue Extension Service with over 2,000 members in choruses in almost all 92 Indiana counties. After Dr. Steward’s retirement, the program became part of the Purdue Musical Organizations. In July 2005, Dr. Scott Buchanan was hired as the state choral director for the organization. Under his direction the group performed in Washington, D.C. for the Memorial Day Service with Anthony Kearns in 2009. Learn more about the Melody Makers at www.melodymakersofindiana.com .
