Kin Ryu Judo Club
It was quite a 2011 for the Kin Ryu Judo Club, winning two Sussex Sports Awards – an Unsung Hero Award for coach Peter Seymour and the Club of the Year Award – while head coach Martin Rivers was awarded a British Judo 2011 Silver Volunteer Award.
Nearly all of the club’s 60 fighters won medals at home and abroad and the club was crowned overall Sussex Champions at the County Championships, the first time the club has won this title in 10 years.
Kin Ryu officials were hard at work in 2011 too. Three juniors qualified as referees and one qualified as a senior timekeeper despite only being 13 years old.
This year is looking even busier with two club members already selected as technical officials for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
