Treats Sweet

With Valentine’s Day around the corner,

treat someone you love (even yourself) to a gorgeous beauty must-have this winter

Exotic Bliss

I like to try a new perfume once in a while and love it when I discovered one that hasn’t yet become popular so not everyone’s wearing it. That’s where Eau de Parfum Exotic by Elemis comes in. Its exotic, mysterious undertones combine with a burst of warm fl oral tones, making it a great choice for a day-into-night-time fragrance. It lasts for hours, smells expensive, and doesn’t come with a budget-busting price tag – what’s not to love? You heard it here fi rst! Eau de Parfum Exotic, £28, by Elemis from John Lewis, 01892 506 830

Refresh & Revive

Surely no part of our bodies is more deserving of TLC than our hard-working hands, and regular use of a good hand lotion should do the trick in keeping them soft and supple. Seascape’s Refresh Hand Lotion is free from parabens, silicone, petroleum, artifi cial colours or synthetic fragrances, so it’s great for sensitive skin. It also comes in a pretty bottle, making it a stylish addition to your bathroom shelf. Refresh Hand Lotion, £16, by Seascape, www.seascapeuk.com

Nutrition Nutshell...

f you’ve been trying to conceive for a while without success, it may be a good idea to look at your diet and lifestyle.

I

As it takes two, nutritional recommendations for both partners include eating plenty of fruit and green veg such as broccoli, kale and spring greens; wholegrains like wholemeal bread and pasta, brown rice and oats; plenty of pulses and beans; and oily foods like salmon, mackerel, nuts, avocado, pumpkin seeds and linseeds. Drink plenty of mineral or fi ltered water, herbal teas and diluted fruit juice and exercise regularly to help regulate oestrogen levels and relieve stress.

Zinc is one of the most important minerals for reproduction – it’s needed to use reproductive hormones effi ciently and for healthy sperm. Best food sources are poultry, fi sh, seafood (especially oysters!), eggs, pumpkin seeds, nuts and wholegrains.

Decrease the amount of saturated fat you eat, so reduce red and processed meat and eat organic foods as much as possible to reduce your body’s toxic load. Stop smoking, which is linked to infertility in women and decreased sperm count in men, and cut out alcohol and caffeine, which deplete many vital nutrients, especially zinc, and reduce fertility in both sexes. Relax and enjoy each other, after all February is the month of love...

Chocolate heaven

The maxim, ‘A minute on the lips, a lifetime on the hips’ need no longer apply this Valentine’s Day, thanks to The Body Shop’s new Chocomania range. It includes a truly divine-scented Body Butter, which really does melt into your skin and gives you up to 48 hours of intensive moisture. Don’t blame me if someone can’t resist giving you a nibble! Chocomania Body Butter, £12.50, by Body Shop from 01892 545108.
