ARTISTS INVITED TO SUBMIT WORK FOR JURIED SHOW


Calling all local artists! Visions of Coronado, a juried art show at the Coronado Museum of History & Art, January 12—February 20, 2012, will showcase the work of local artists in a wide variety of media, materials and styles. Artists, age 21 years and up, living in San Diego County, are invited to submit entries. All media will be considered, but submissions must be original art, completed within the last two years, and must pertain to Coronado, CA. Deadline for entries: November 15, 2011.


New Museum Exhibit to Open in March


CORONADO ON THE FRONTLINE: 1942-1945


What challenges and sacrifices did the residents of Coronado face during World War II? How did the war years change our community? These and many other questions will be addressed when an exciting new exhibit opens next March.


Visitors will get a glimpse through a “window in time” to see how the island responded to the war effort between 1942 and 1945. Members’ Preview, Thursday, March 8, 2012; exhibit opens to the public on Friday, March 9.

The committee is now seeking unique auction items*. This event will support CHA’s on-going efforts to preserve and share Coronado’s history for future generations.

We Need Your Help!!


CORONADO ON THE FRONTLINE: 1942-1945 Opens in March 2012


We need your help on this exhibit and are looking for: • Stories from individuals who lived in Coronado during 1942-1945


• Photographs of life in Coronado during this time (streets, homes, activities, events, etc.)


• Diaries, letters, and postcards sent to Coronado residents from those involved in the War


• Objects that represent life in Coronado during this time (ration books, posters, uniforms, blackout curtains, window “stars,” signs, radio, table, tablecloth, newspapers


• 1940s furniture and knick-knacks • Help in identifying individuals in photographs from that era
