Santa Fe Territorial Design, the house and garden have both received historical designation (the first garden to do so in Coronado). The home was also an important hub of social life for the naval aviation community during the 1940s (World War II era) and 1950s (Korean War era).
Coronado Pediatric Dentistry is the premier sponsor of this year’s Historic Home Tour. Dr. and Mrs. Howard Dixon, proud owners of the dentistry practice—first of its kind in Coronado—are strong advocates of historic preservation and active members of the Coronado Historical Association.
This year, for the first time, the Old Town Trolley will shuttle visitors from selected parking locations around Coronado to homes on the tour. The shuttle service will originate at Coronado City Hall, where there will be ample free parking. Before April 20, ticket prices are $30 for members, $35 for non-members; after that date, tickets will be $35 for members, $40 for non-members. No refunds will be issued after April 20. “It’s a benefit to get them started on a good relationship with us early on. Our goal is to keep children cavity- free and happy to come to the office for visits. This gives us a chance to talk to the mothers and fathers about the importance of good dental hygiene and nutrition.”

Even before moving to Coronado, the Dixons were members of SOHO (Save Our Heritage Organization) and enjoyed several of our Historic Home Tours. They became CHA members as soon as they moved to Coronado.
“Joining the CHA was a wonderful way to get to know Coronado and its
history. Besides it’s fun! The Historical Association is very inviting and friendly
and has such great social events. We’ve met some of our best friends through this organization.”
Why did the Dixons decide to become sponsors of CHA’s Historic Home Tour this year? They whole-heartedly support the mission of CHA, to preserve and present the history of our town. “Sponsorship is a way of giving back to the community,” says Donna, “because the community has been very good to us.”
