The road to recovery

Sierra Leone’s terrible poverty is only part of its woes. In recent decades it has been traumatised by a brutal civil war which conscripted child soldiers, along with the ruthless search for ‘blood diamonds’. It is a nation that needs healing in many different ways. Come with us to its capital Freetown and offer the people practical support along with a message of healing love.

The project

Mission Direct is building an out of town compound for The City of Rest, which cares for men and women with drug and mental health difficulties. Currently it is the only place in the country to offer such help. The new compound should be completed at the end of 2011 and 2012 will see us embarking on a new project for the people of Sierra Leone. Again its emphasis will be to offer hope and healing for the most vulnerable of one of Africa’s poorest cities.

Celebrate Christmas with us We are running a special trip to Sierra Leone over Christmas 2012. What better way to celebrate the birth of Christ than to serve some of the world’s poorest people? (2011’s trip is full) Contact us for more details.
