Go East! You will be based in the Eastern Highland region of Zimbabwe, on the border of Mozambique. It is a scenic, mountainous area with dramatic waterfalls and gorges. We will have a couple of days to relax in the former home of Rhodesia’s founder Cecil Rhodes – now a hotel.

Safe Hands

Zimbabwe has been through turbulent times, but now we are completely satisfied that it is safe to work there again.

Yes we can!

Zimbabwe’s education system was once the envy of Africa. Sadly, all that has changed.

In Mutare - Zimbabwe’s fourth largest city – no new schools have been built in 20 years. Children are crammed into overcrowded classes, attend school in shifts, walk for miles or do not go to school at all. The children of Mutare are longing for a proper education to help them rebuild their nation. Come and build a school for Zimbabwe’s future.

The Project:

The United Baptist Church (UBC) of Zimbabwe has been granted a site in Mutare by the local council. Mission Direct is partnering with the UBC to build a primary school there, to provide good quality Christian education for the local children.

What you will be doing You will be helping to build classrooms and facilities for the new school.

As well as the building project, you will lend a hand with the work of the HIV/AIDS ministry Windows of Hope: you can help with health education classes, play games with the children and visit AIDS orphans in their homes. Also, experience the Farming God’s Way project, which promotes small-scale farming methods and is currently helping many people grow more food for their families.

Special project: Ndiadzo, Zimbabwe

The people of Ndiadzo - out in the mountainous east of the Zimbabwe - have been all but forgotten. Children have to walk for two hours to reach their nearest, school. You can offer the people of Ndiadzo hope for a better future by building them a school.

This trip will be almost entirely focussed on the building project. But in two weeks you will truly experience another culture from the inside. Please note this is only open to over 18s.
