DENTAL PROFILES DAMON ORTHODONTICS

Spokane is home to cousins Dr. Clay Damon and Dr. Paul Damon who are second generation orthodontists. This legacy was founded by Dr. Floyd Damon in 1968 and Dr. Dwight Damon in 1970.

The invention of the Damon System has revolutionized

orthodontic treatment around the world. In many cases the Damon System reduces the need for painful or inva- sive methods that involve extraction of permanent teeth, expanders, or headgear.

The Damon System uses tiny braces that deliver ex-

traordinary results in less time than traditional methods. World class professionals like Bethany Hamilton (www. bethanyhamilton.com) have benefited from the Damon System. Damon Orthodontics has three neighborhood locations with the newest on Spokane’s South Hill.

Creating a positive dental experience for kids Dr. Becky Coombs

“If kids start out with a great trip to the dentist, their whole outlook on dental health will improve” says Dr. Erin Johnson, South Hill Pediatric Dentistry. South Hill Pediatric Dentistry was designed first and foremost for the comfort of their patients: children. Dr. Erin Johnson and Dr. Becky Coombs focus on a comprehensive approach to working with children. They strive to create the most positive dental visit possible, by learning about each child as an individual and tailoring the visit to meet their needs. Drs. Erin and Becky routinely stress the relationship between the provider, parent and child. They encourage parents to accompany their child into the treatment areas. Dr. Erin and Dr. Becky promote what they call “Little Explorer” visits, where

parents of young children can bring their child in for no charge and the child may tour the office and practice sitting in the chair. “These visits help promote the dental office as a comfortable and non-threatening place to be for a young child who might be feeling unsure” says Dr. Becky Dr. Erin and Dr. Becky both completed a residency specializing in pediatric dentistry and Dr. Erin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Pediatric dentists undergo two years of supplemental training to manage issues unique to children and acquire specialized treatment techniques. Dr. Erin adds, “We hope that every time a parent reminds their child that it is time for their check-up, those children will be excited to come see us.”
