at the Blanchard Community Center, which is supported by the community and fundraisers including an art auction in April. She also does workshops at Manic Moon Studios, 1625 North Monroe, in Spokane. She has exhibited her work in California, Washington and Idaho. When she’s not motivating others to


embrace their creative spirits, she is allowing herself to be lead by her own muse; sewing, cutting recycled wood and applying acrylic or oil paint to an array of surfaces. Her subjects are mostly figurative, done in a mix of bright and muted colors, fractured yet whole, mosaics of human nature captured at the window, lounging, dancing, reading or simply contemplating. In her artist’s statement, she explains, “I hope that my audience can see a bit of themselves in my pieces and the frailty of human kind. I strive to communicate a sense of sensual harmony and radiant power that transcends life and achieves an enduring honesty.” Driving up to her property on Hoodoo


Mountain, you cannot help but be lulled by the beauty of the surroundings. Upon entering her home or studio you cannot help but gasp at the apparent creative energy that resides here. Amongst the trees, Pleasants stays pleasantly busy. “Sometimes I get so wrapped up in the process that I lose track of time and where I am. What others call day-dreaming I call mental processing and sometimes the subconscious takes over and I may be somewhere else entirely while the process is going on and I surprise myself by what I have created and that is very exciting.” View more at www.clanciepleasants.com
