JULY 16-20 Broadway from Start to Finish MUSICAL THEATER / CREATIVE WRITING


Calling all stars-to-be! Spend an electrifying week as a special Broadway company in the Flynn’s own studios, creating characters, developing a script, writing songs, and performing an original musical for family and friends at week’s end. Campers will work on vocal, acting, and movement skills—and learn some onstage and behind-the-scenes secrets along the way!

History Comes Alive! at the Champlain Mill in Winooski THEATER / HISTORY • AGES 8-13 Travel back to the Civil War era, when a vibrant mix of people flocked to Vermont mills for work. Imagine you’re a French Canadian or Irish immigrant coming to start a new life, or a Yankee Vermonter meeting people from another culture for the very first time—when the Civil War breaks out! In this week of improvisation at the Mill Museum, historic Winooski buildings, and surrounding natural areas along the river, we’ll develop real and fictional costumed characters who respond to the challenges of the time. Family and friends get to see highlights from the week’s adventures on Friday.

Dancing Planet, Crafty World! with Burlington City Arts WORLD CULTURES / DANCE / CRAFTS Fill up your passport and travel the globe exploring cool cultural arts from distant lands! Mornings are spent at BCA’s Firehouse Center, where kids create crafts and costumes like headdresses, masks, and batiks inspired by countries around the world. Then we head to the Flynn, where our globe trotters try fun international performing arts traditions and world dances from the very same countries. At week’s end family and friends will cheer on our fully costumed, multicultural performance.

AUGUST 13-17 Star Wars: Jedi Training Camp THEATER / CRITICAL THINKING There are challenges facing the Jedi Order that threaten the peace and security of the galaxy, so grab those lightsabers and help to defeat the Dark Side! The principles of good acting are woven through our dramatic activities as we pledge the sacred Jedi Oath, and train in the ways of the force as Jedi Knights. We’ll even learn safe stage combat from guest teachers recognized by the Society of American Fight Directors. May the force be with you!

Spy School for Drama Detectives THEATER / CRITICAL THINKING Join our team of super sleuths as we search for clues and discover the secrets behind acting and theater along the way! Go undercover to track down villains, decode top secret messages, and use our special Flynn clearance to investigate crime scenes all around the theater. There’s mysterious mayhem going on, but our gumshoes are sure to crack the case!
