JULY 9-13 Radio Plays
at Vermont Public Radio THEATER / RADIO / SOUND EFFECTS AGES 11-15 Since the Golden Age of radio theater in the ‘30s and ‘40s, performers have thrilled listeners with astonishingly real sound effects and characters. Go behind the scenes with acclaimed radio show-maker Jon Gailmor to learn the secret “tricks of the trade,” creating distinct characters with your voice, writing original songs, and inventing sound effects for rainstorms, crackling fires, footsteps in snow, and more! We dramatize a classic radio script and an original one of our own, which we’ll record
at Vermont Public Radio and perform for family and friends on Friday. Performers will also take home a CD of their “broadcast.”

JULY 16-20 RADIO PLAYS JUNE 18-22
Teen Comedy Club COMEDY / IMPROVISATION • AGES 11-15 Give your funny bone a workout in this awesome group, where we’ll master the fundamentals of improv comedy through games, sketches, and more. Learn to think on your feet, be in the moment, and “follow the funny” while having loads of laughs. We’ll even spend a day with a guest teacher developing an improv musical, and show off our skills in front of an audience when we perform our comedy revue on Friday. Get ready for a week of hilarity!

Hollywood Whodunit? ACTING / PLAYWRITING / COMEDY AGES 11-15
Whodunit? Only you can say! Create an original mystery with characters drawn from the glittering world of Hollywood movies, and then perform your play at the OFF Center in Burlington for family and friends on Friday. Eccentric directors, temperamental starlets, eager young understudies, and daring detectives may appear in your script as you learn tons about acting, directing, playwriting, comedy, and get the real story behind the scenes!

DANCE • AGES 11-16 Develop style, stage presence, and confidence in these two high-energy dance forms while learning the latest moves. Teaching artist Lois Trombley is the creator and choreographer of Spielpalast Cabaret and is known for the variety of styles she teaches. In this camp you’ll explore hip-hop and jazz from some of her favorite angles, with influences as varied as Afro-Caribbean tradition, Broadway great Bob Fosse, Bollywood, new music videos, and even Michael Jackson. Daily warm-ups promote strength and flexibility,and choreography enhances your rhythm, agility, and confident individual expression. Camp is tailored to participants’ skill levels.
