test if it is ready to be taken off the heat, get your spoon and run a flame over the oil, if it lights and you see small amounts of flame there is still alco- hol leſt and it needs further heating. Once com- plete the mixture should be leſt for at least twelve hours in a cool dry place before consuming.
As well as using plant material for this method, kief is also another material that can be used, and it is not for the faint hearted! Take anything between ¼- 1oz of kief and place it in your alcohol and let it sit for four hours, shaking about every thirty min- utes. Doing this method with pure kief will reduce the material to a super concentrate with zero plant matter. Once the material has soaked follow the method above, and take into account that the end product is very potent so dab lightly!
BHO/Budder Butane honey oil is the new kid on the block in the
cannabis world and is gaining in popularity eve- rywhere. Te process is done with refined butane which upon contact with resin heads dissolves them to oil. Te process is quick and simple in comparison with the other methods of extraction. Use two cans of 3x refined butane per ounce of material. Te plant material should then be placed in a long tube that is capped at both ends, with one hole in the cap at the top for the nozzle of the bu- tane can, and at the other end several holes to let
the butane escape. A coffee filter should be placed at the exit end of your vessel to stop unwanted plant matter entering the product. Next you will need a pyrex dish and a warm water bath; put your butane through the product and extract into the pyrex dish in the larger bowl of warm water. Te butane should evaporate slowly, and once there is no visible butane liquid leſt let the mixture sit for ten minutes. Aſter this it is ready to be cooked down, don’t forget to pop all of the little bubbles that form in the oil as this is butane! Place the py- rex dish in a new warm water bath and whip the mixture until it begins to thicken. Depending on the grade of the product used aſter enough whip- ping the mixture will turn yellow with the consist- ency of house hold butter. Once you have your final product vacuum purging is recommended to get the last of the butane out of your product. Vacuum purging is done by placing your product into a sealed container that has a valve at the top to suck out the air and then the butane in your prod- uct from the container.
Besides the methods described above there are many more for you to try like bubble hash or dry ice extraction. Te methods above are basic guide- lines and aſter several attempts you will find what methods work best for you.
Happy smoking!
Te methods described in this article are for informa- tional purpose only. Both butane and iso extraction can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing Butane is very flammable, and so if used in a small space there is a risk of explosion, and iso extraction should be done by professionals in a well-ventilated area as it is slightly toxic.
DISCLAIMER: Incorrect production using these meth-
ods could also lead to health issues due to impurities/ alcohol/butane etc. So don’t try them at home!
