Hilliard is Nassau County’s second most populated municipality.


Since 1959, it has been home to a 54,000- square-foot Federal Aviation Administration Air Traffic Control Center that remains Hilliard’s largest employer. This center is responsible for guiding aircraft through approximately 160,000 square miles of airspace covering parts of five states: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina.


Hilliard has a population of 3,086. The greater Hilliard zip code area, which includes the northwest Nassau communities of Boulogne and Kings Ferry, has a population of 9,410.


The Hilliard Airpark is one of the last remaining public grass landing strips in Florida and serves local and visiting pilots. The airpark on Eastwood Road is the site of Hilliard’s annual 4th of July celebration and fireworks.


Hilliard’s successful efforts in 2002 to build a junior Olympic-size swimming pool earned the town a Florida Rural Community Award from then Gov. Jeb Bush. The pool is only part of the small town’s recreational offerings which include three parks, a gym and a skate park.


Ralph E. Simmons State Forest is the home of cypress and longleaf pine strands, ponds and swamps that create a natural habitat for various species of fish and wildlife native to the area. Pathways also give many views of the scenic

The citizen volunteers of the Hilliard Action Committee plan numerous events including the annual town clean up, 4th of July celebration, Veterans Day ceremony and annual Christmas tree lighting.

Hilliard’s commercial district is centered at the intersection of County Road 108 and US 1.
